About 50% of people with community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) are receiving antibiotics for too long, according to data presented at IDWeek 2023, held in Boston (poster 2252).
This means there are opportunities to reduce the overuse of therapy directed at multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), as well as to reduce the duration of therapy among patients with CABP who do not require ICU-level care, the researchers said.
