Antibiotic-Resistant UTI Rates Rising

Antibiotic-resistant urinary tract infections (UTIs) have increased steadily over the past two decades, according to data released by BD Infectious Disease Insights.

Resistance rates vary across census regions in ambulatory settings. “There are even some areas with resistance to three or more drugs, which renders UTIs extremely hard to treat,” said Vikas Gupta, PharmD, BD’s director of medical affairs.
