Children With COVID-19 Often Don’t Experience Key Symptoms

By Ethan Covey

An initial study of COVID-19 in U.S. children found that these young patients often do not experience many of the key symptoms of the disease, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath.

The findings reinforce the need for social distancing and other precautionary behaviors to prevent disease transmission by patients with less serious illness—and asymptomatic individuals, according to a recent study (MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2020;69[14]:422-426).
