The FDA cleared for marketing the T2Bacteria Panel (T2Biosystems) for detecting bacterial species in human whole blood specimens from patients with suspected bloodstream infections without requiring a culture.
The panel identifies five of the most common sepsis-causing species of bacteria: Enterococcus faecium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.
