Screening for HBV Infection Recommended for Pregnant Women

By Ethan Covey

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) reaffirmed its recommendation that pregnant women be screened for hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection at their first prenatal visit.

The A recommendation is an update to the USPSTF’s previous recommendation, which was announced in 2009 (JAMA 2019;322[4]:349-354).
