Rates of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among pregnant women are significantly higher in those with opioid use disorder, according to a CDC report.
The results suggest a link between the opioid crisis and increases in HCV infection, and is the first time that U.S. trends in HCV infection among pregnant women by opioid use disorder status have been reported (MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2019;68:833-838).
