Enhanced Hospital Disinfection Reduces Disease Spread

Disinfecting hospital rooms using enhanced techniques reduces the spread of epidemiologically important pathogens (EIPs), according to a new study from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) School of Medicine.

The study shows that additional disinfecting—beyond standard practices—causes decreases in the risk for infections such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, Clostridium difficile and multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter
