Diagnosing and Treating Sepsis Using the 3-Hour Bundle

One in three hospital deaths are related to sepsis,1 making sepsis recognition and care in the emergency department as important as care for stroke and myocardial infarction. We also know that every hour we delay antibiotics, we increase a patient’s chance of dying.2 Yet in some areas, knowlegde about sepsis, it’s risks and management is still limited.

Sepsis is also a contributing factor to some of the economic issues faced by many hospitals. In fact, sepsis was
