New C. difficile Guidelines Recommend New Treatment, Testing Protocols

New diagnostic methods and treatments, including fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), will help improve the care given to patients with Clostridium difficile infection (CDI), according to updated guidelines released by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.

The updates were necessary because diagnosis and treatment of CDI have evolved significantly since they were published in 2010, according to the IDSA.
