Novel Malaria Diagnostic Tool

Sniffer dogs are being trained to sniff out malaria, according to a new study presented at TropMed 2018 in New Orleans (abstract 32). People with malaria parasites generate distinct odors on their skin that dogs may be able to determine with their keen sense of smell. In this experiment, Freya will sniff samples of clothing worn by infected and uninfected people and remain motionless if she detects malaria or move on if she does not. Will Freya find the malaria?
