The president yesterday directed his administration “to use all appropriate emergency and other authorities to respond to the crisis caused by the opioid epidemic.”
The directive was a result of the recommendations in the interim report from the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, led by Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.), released last month that asked the president to declare a state of health emergency against the epidemic.
