Protecting Our Borders: Keeping Super Gonorrhea Out

Super gonorrhea has been reported in other countries, and public health and clinicians will have to work together to keep it out of the United States.

Despite a relatively low prevalence of these multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains of gonorrhea in the United States over the past three decades, a combination of surveillance and adherence to recommended therapy is necessary to delay further drug resistance from developing, according to a poster at the 2018 IDWeek (abstract 1167).
