FDA Available to Help With Drug Shortages, but Manufacturers Must Supply Solutions

Silver Spring, Md.—The FDA cannot require pharmaceutical manufacturers to make products during drug shortages or direct them where to allocate the products they have in stock, but the agency does have other avenues it can pursue when notified of predicted or current shortages, officers with the FDA’s Drug Shortage Staff said during a webinar on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
