Use of the BioFire Blood Culture Identification Panel 2 (BCID2) rapid diagnostic test combined with a pharmacist-run antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) initiative improved time to effective therapy in patients with gram-negative bacteremia (GNB), which was found to be clinically and statistically significant, according to a poster presented at the MAD-ID (Making a Difference in Infectious-Disease) Meeting in Orlando, Fla.
Initial treatment of GNB with inappropriate antibiotic
