Recent influenza B viruses detected in Laos appear to be resistant to neuraminidase inhibitors, according to a report by the CDC.
Influenza B/Victoria/2/87 viruses isolated in three people from Laos during February 2016 were found to contain a variation that made them resistant to treatment with NAIs (Emerg Infect Dis 2017;23[4]:686-690). The viruses had an H134N substitution in the neuraminidase, which researchers were able to replicate in vitro and in ferrets.
