If it feels like everyone around you is sniffling, sneezing, coughing and wheezing, they probably are. CDC officials said respiratory infections, such as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), entered the ring early—and came out swinging.
Visits to a healthcare provider for a respiratory illness were up 4.3% above baseline for the week ending Oct. 29, according to the CDC. Typically, this time of year sees a 2.5% increase in visits for a respiratory illness.
