RDTs for Antimicrobial Stewardship: Focus on Bloodstream And Acute Respiratory Infections

The Infectious Diseases Society of America and Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America established guidelines about using rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) in addition to conventional culture and routine reporting combined with active antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) support and interpretation.¹ Since then, RDTs have been incorporated into almost all ASPs.² Arguably, it is important to combine the
