HIV-Positive Substance Abusers Unswayed by Patient Navigation and Financial Incentives

A three-year follow-up of a study that showed that patient navigation (PN) plus financial incentives (FI) was unsuccessful at persuading HIV-positive substance abusers to seek treatment has found similarly low rates of success.

The Project Hope study, originally presented at CROI 2016, studied the benefit of providing HIV-positive substance abusers with up to 11 PN sessions, as well as up to $1,160 for various behaviors that would lead to engagement into substance abuse treatment
