Demystifying Decisions Regarding HIV Tests

When deciding which HIV test is best in a given setting, clinicians should consider factors such as where the test can be done, timing, performance and other characteristics. 

The authors of a review article about choosing an HIV test broke down many differentiating factors, such as point-of-care versus laboratory, specific performance characteristics, timing and the effect of different specimens on test performance (Sex Transm Dis 2017:44[12]:739-746).
