The global spread of circulating vaccine-derived polioviruses (cVDPVs) continues, including ongoing transmission of cVDPV type 2 (cVDPV2) and an increasing number of cVDPV type 1 (cVDPV1) outbreaks, highlighting a need for improved routine immunization coverage, according to a report from the CDC.
Decreased vaccination rates likely caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are challenging goals put forth by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2023;72:366-371).
