Nearly All U.S. Dengue Fever Cases Tied to Travel

As people begin to travel again, remember nearly all cases of dengue fever occurring in the United States are directly related to travel, primarily to the Caribbean and Asia, according to a new study. Therefore, patients should be urged to take precautions to prevent the disease, according to experts.

Only 7% of dengue cases were found to be locally acquired (MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2020;69[6]:149-154).
