What Happened to All the Amphibians?

A large amphibian die-off caused by a fungal disease in two tropical countries has been linked to a spike in malaria cases in the region, according to a recent study.

Outside of a small group of ecologists, there was little notice when dozens of species of frogs, salamanders and other amphibians discretely disappeared from parts of Latin America in the 1980s and 2000s. However, the decline in amphibious creatures had direct health consequences for the people living there.
