The percentage of New York City patients newly diagnosed with HIV who achieved viral suppression within three months of diagnosis has risen to more than one-third, up from just 9% who achieved viral suppression in the same period in 2007.
Researchers suggested that this metric be added to the National HIV/AIDS Strategy used by the CDC and local health agencies to monitor the progress of patients newly diagnosed with HIV (J Infect Dis 2019;219[6]:851-855).
