An intervention designed to facilitate treatment for HIV and substance abuse resulted in a 50% reduction in mortality for people who inject drugs (PWID) living with HIV, according to a recent study.
The researchers also found increases in antiretroviral therapy (ART) and medication-assisted treatment among those who participated in the intervention, and patients were about twice as likely to have suppressed viral loads to undetectable levels after one year. The intervention
